These error exponents relate the word-error probability and the word-length of a code to each other. They are widely used to access the performance of a communication system for finite block lengths.
In the project, the students first study the principles of this method. Then they compute the error-exponentes for some simple examples to get further insight.Looking at the resulting figure, we see that we have constructed a code tree for U, starting at the outermost branches and working down to the trunk.
